The Award Categories and Criteria

  • >  IAB Bookkeeper of the Year - Sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group

    This award will recognise an IAB member who has provided excellent bookkeeping services to clients or their employer and whose skills have improved their financial effectiveness or efficiency.

    The nomination must be made by a client, supporting accountant or employer of an IAB member and clearly present their experience of the excellent service provided.

    Judging Criteria:

    1. Clear description of what is excellent about the service provided including one or more illustrative examples. 
    2. Assistance and advice beyond expectations provided to the client or employer.
  • >  IAB Accountant of the Year - Sponsored by F A Simms and AMLCC

    This award will recognise either an Accountant or firm of Accountants who have gone above and beyond to help their clients.

    The nomination should be made by a client, their employer or a bookkeeper they work closely with who should explain why the Accountant or firm of Accountants deserves to win this award.

    Judging Criteria:

    The accountant of the year will have demonstrated some, if not all, of the following attributes:

    1. Support and encouragement of CPD/education for the client.
    2. Assistance and advice beyond expectations provided to the client or employer.
    3. Encouragement or assistance in the development of the client’s business.
    4. Clear description of what is excellent about the service provided including one or more illustrative examples.
  • >  IAB Payroll Professional of the Year - Sponsored by Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP)

    This award will recognise an IAB or CIPP member that has provided excellent payroll services to clients or their employer and whose skills have improved the effectiveness or efficiency of the operation of their payroll.

    The nomination should be made by a client or employer of an IAB or CIPP member and should clearly present their experience of the excellent service provided.

    Judging Criteria:

    1. Clear description of what is excellent about the service provided including one or more illustrative examples.
    2. Assistance and advice beyond expectations provided to the client or employer.
  • >  IAB Small Business Mentor of the Year - Sponsored by SFEDI Group

    The mentor of the year award is awarded to an individual that has made an outstanding contribution as a volunteer business mentor over the past year.  We are looking for an individual that has not only made a difference to the business of their mentee(s), but who supports the emergence of new and growing enterprises in their region and sector.

    They can be nominated for this award by their mentee, colleague or other professional that has recognised the contribution this individual has made in the field.

    Judging Criteria:

    The mentor of the year will have demonstrated some, if not all, of the following attributes:

    1. Willingness to volunteer their time to supporting one or more new or growing businesses.
    2. Willingness to share their experience and knowledge in supporting their mentee(s) businesses as they start and grow.
    3. Ability to help the mentee(s) problem solve to overcome challenges in their business.
    4. Ability to signpost mentee(s) to other sources of support in their region and beyond.
    5. Overall contribution to the future success of their mentee’s businesses.
    6. Support and enthusiasm for the emergence of new businesses in their region and sector.

    To help us reach a decision, we ask that nominations give examples of how the mentor has supported in each of these areas.

  • >  IAB Student of the Year - Sponsored by Butler Rose

    This award is open for IAB accredited centres to nominate either a bookkeeping or payroll student who is considered to be a worthy award winner.

    Judging Criteria:

    The student must clearly demonstrate some or all of the following:

    1. High achievement towards attaining their IAB qualification in bookkeeping or payroll.
    2. Excellent degree of progress made from the time of starting their course through to completion.
    3. Any adverse challenges overcome along the way.
    4. Positive impact the student has had on the organisation/employer and/or on their student group.

     

    To help us reach a decision, we ask that nominations give information and examples of some or all of the above areas.
